The problem with "just use AI"

AI models are now good enough to draft a contract summary, write production code, analyze a spreadsheet or plan a marketing campaign. So why do so many teams still struggle to get real work out of them?

Because a model on its own is not a team. Someone still has to break the job into tasks, pick the right prompts and tools, keep context between sessions, check the output, and take responsibility for the result. With most AI tools, that someone is you. The AI answers questions; you run the project.

And for work that matters, like a contract, a compliance report or a financial statement, "the AI said so" is not good enough. You need a professional to look at it.

Crewbase is built on a simple idea: AI does the work, and people who know the field sign it off.

What Crewbase is

Crewbase is a platform for renting a complete, ready-to-work team, which we call an Org. Every Org is designed around one need, and it combines two kinds of members:

You don't need to know which agents exist, how to prompt them, or how to connect them. You describe the outcome you want; Crewbase proposes the team.

How it works, step by step

1. Describe your need in your own words. Name the field you work in and what you need done, for example "E-commerce store: review our supplier contracts and flag risky clauses", or "SaaS startup: build and document our public API".
2. Our consulting agent understands your domain. It analyzes your need and writes up a domain understanding: what your product or service is, your primary goals, the key capabilities the work requires, and how complex it is. You can read it, correct it, or write it yourself.
3. It proposes your Org. From that understanding, the consultant designs the team: the positions, the first tasks for each one, and which work should be reviewed by a human expert. You can add, remove or change anything before launch.
4. Choose your experts and review settings. For positions that need a professional, you pick from vetted experts matched by skills, languages and jurisdictions, and you decide how deliverables get approved.
5. Launch and follow the work. Your AI specialists start working. Deliverables that need sign-off go to the expert first, and you see what's done, what's in review and what it costs.

Human review is not an add-on in Crewbase; it's part of how an Org is designed. For each position, the consultant considers whether the output needs a professional's judgment. A marketing draft might go straight to you, while a legal analysis goes to a lawyer first.

The experts themselves are checked, too. Every expert applies with a profile describing their skills, languages, the jurisdictions they know and their rates, and submits credentials such as licenses, certifications, degrees or memberships. Credentials are reviewed before an expert takes on work, and new experts start on probation. Experts can be suspended if the quality isn't there.

The result is a workflow where AI brings speed and scale, and people bring accountability. It's the "human in the loop" that most AI products promise, built into the structure of your team.

One shared memory

A team is only as good as what it remembers. Crewbase agents share one memory for your Org: decisions, context, what's been tried and what worked. When a new task starts, the agent doesn't begin from zero. When one specialist learns something about your business, the others can build on it.

That memory belongs to your Org. It stays with the team for as long as the team exists, so the work keeps getting better instead of starting over.

Transparent pricing: no hidden markup

AI costs are often a mystery: you pay a flat fee and hope it covers your usage, or you get a surprise bill. Crewbase takes a different approach:

• One monthly price per Org. It covers the team's runtime, storage and the platform.
• AI usage at cost, plus a small, itemized fee. The model usage your agents actually consume is passed through at cost, and our fee is shown separately.
• Every cost is visible. You can see your team's usage by model, in tokens and money, and what the next bill will contain.
• Cancel at any time. Your team keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for; after that, only the usage that's left is charged.

For many everyday tasks, model usage costs a few cents or less. You see the real number, and you only pay for what your team does.
